Students receive certificates in ceremony at The Mill

Pupils from Christ the King Maths and Computing College were presented with awards for their fantastic fundraising efforts in a ceremony at The Mill.

The school’s Charity Group was chosen for an International Diana Award – handed out to ‘inspirational or socially active young people’ – last year, and four members of the team attended a ceremony in London to collect their trophy.

Last month, the whole group visited The Mill to receive their individual certificates from hospice Chief Executive Stephen Greenhalgh.

The award was given in recognition of the group and the school’s efforts raising money for St Catherine’s and CAFOD, as well as their support of the St Augustine Food Bank and Christmas shoe box appeal.

In December they raised a brilliant £720 for the hospice through various festive events including a Santa obstacle course, Christmas jumper competition, quizzes and cake sales.

Stephen said: “It was an honour to present this group of creative students with such an important accolade, handed out in recognition of their imaginative efforts to raise vital funds for the hospice and other charities.”
