Cleaner

Cleaner (Casual Hours)

 A safe, clean and welcoming environment is vital to our work at The Mill café.   Could you join our cleaning team on an ad-hoc basis and help us continue to deliver the high standards we’ve become known for?

It’s a rewarding role at the heart of the charity, which has a direct impact on those we care for and the customers we serve.

We need committed, hard-working and approachable team-players who are able to respond flexibly to the requirements of the department in order to cover holidays and sickness Monday to Sunday.

Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK

Experience preferred however training will be provided

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Head of Housekeeping
  • To clean all communal areas to expected standards, so The Mill presents beautifully at all times
  • Duties to include: Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cobwebs, cleaning windows, toilets.
  • Cleaning courtyard and terrace
  • Other tasks that may be requested
  • Shifts are dependent on business need
  • Some lone working
  • Health and Safety

Hourly rate up to £10.42 per hour

Apprentice Chef

Passionate about quality food but looking for a better work/life balance? We’re recruiting an apprentice chef to join our friendly and professional team at The Mill café and St Catherine’s Hospice.

Working 37.5 hours a week on a rota covering 5 days out of 7, our chefs enjoy a lot more free time compared to others in the industry, and much more sociable hours.
You’ll also experience great variety – covering the café, our events and the hospice.

You will assist the Senior Chefs on duty with storage, preparation and cooking of all food items and get a wide range of experience.

We are looking for someone with;
• Positive attitude
• Good communication skills
• Committed to delivering a high level of customer service
• Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations
• Ability to work on your own or in teams
• Willingness to learn

You don’t need any experience as we can teach you everything. If you are willing to learn and be proud to work with us, we can show you exactly what it takes to become a vital team member in any kitchen.

You’ll take on a full-time role in the kitchen under the supervision of passionate chefs alongside your training. Not only do you gain a Level 2 Production Chef Apprenticeship, you will be able to support the running of our kitchens and get the personal satisfaction of knowing your talent and skills are doing good in your local community.

The purpose of this rewarding volunteering role is to provide administration assistance to the team.

Kitchen Porter (bank)

We’re recruiting a bank kitchen porter to join the team at The Mill, The Mill Outside and St Catherine’s Hospice. This rewarding role offers great variety and more sociable hours compared to many in catering, as well as the chance to use your skills to make a difference to an important local charity.

A kitchen porter is a crucial part of every kitchen to help the kitchen run successfully. The kitchen porter’s main duties will involve washing up, cleaning and possibly basic food preparation tasks. During busy periods, the kitchen porter will need to be well organised and work fast to keep the pots and pans clean for the chefs.

The duties include unloading and putting away stock correctly, keeping the kitchen clean, emptying bins, sweeping and mopping floors. The kitchen porter will make sure all the equipment is put away correctly, the washing up of pans, pots and operating the dishwasher machine.

Casual Catering Events Staff

We are searching for engaging, courteous catering staff to join the team to help with our expanding events business at the Mill Outside & at the Mill Café.

You will be passionate about food, beverage & customer service. Our Outside Catering Service can cater for all types of events including Weddings, Anniversaries, Corporate events, Parties, Christmas & Baby Showers etc.

Shifts on Weekends & evenings, additional weekday shifts available over holiday periods.

We operate a fast paced environment delivering excellent customer service in a friendly professional manner.

Previous experience is preferred. Applicants must have an eye for detail & a desire to maintain high standards.

Individuals would be required to work on their own initiative & as part of a tea

Delivering a 5 star level of customer service to visitors to The Mill café & the Mill Outside customers. Working as part of a busy team of front of house staff on food & bar operations. To succeed you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, & polite.
